Youth proect 2024
Youth Mobility for Green Ideas and Active Citizenship
The training includes participants from Turkey and is part of the Erasmus+ program, implemented with the support of the Turkish National Agency and the System & Generation organization, led by Gürkan Güneş, in partnership with the Bulgarian International Youth Center (IYC) under project 2024-1-BG01-KA151-YOU-000222551. The activities took place from 11.06.2025. – 22.06.2025.
Inspired by the power of youth participation and the need for sustainable development, young participants gathered in Bulgaria to exchange experiences, ideas and values under the title „Youth Mobility for Social Inclusion, Environmental Responsibility and Active Citizenship“. The event brings together over 50 participants from different countries who share a common mission – to build a more competent, informed and engaged young generation, ready to respond to the social and environmental challenges of our time.
Focus on skills, values and green thinking
The programme focuses on three strategic objectives:
- Development of social and civic skills through non-formal education and practical activities that support the personal and professional development of young people;
- Environmental education and awareness of climate change and the responsible use of natural resources, promoting green habits and critical thinking;
- Improving the quality of youth work, through the exchange of good practices and training of youth workers who support young people in their communities.
The training uses interactive non-formal learning methods, combining discussions, group work and practical green initiatives. All activities are carried out in the spirit of the seven principles of sustainability – Rethink, Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Give, Recycle (7R).
Europe of youth and shared values
The International Youth Centre in Sofia is among the leading organisations in Bulgaria that develop networks for democratic participation, sustainability and solidarity.
The project is subordinated to the values of the European Union – equality, tolerance, inclusion and respect for human rights.
“Our mission is to give young people the confidence and opportunity to be a factor of change – not just to react to what is happening, but to be drivers of a better future. Each of them proves that Europe has a chance when its young people think and act responsibly,” said representatives of the IYC team.
Looking ahead
The project 2024-1-BG01-KA151-YOU-000222551 is part of the long-term vision of the International Youth Center for the development of the youth sector, including consistent training, partnerships and mobilities in the period 2024–2025.
The initiative is an example of effective international cooperation between Bulgaria and Turkey in support of youth, sustainable development and European values.
